Calendar and Announcements
Unless noted otherwise below, services are held on erev Shabbat (Friday night) and on the evening beginning a festival at 7:30 pm, and on Shabbat (Saturday) or holiday morning at 9:00 am. Please see our Services page for more information.
Aviv Hadash is conducting services at the usual times on the evenings and mornings of Shabbat and festivals, in lock step with current state and local guidelines. As New York City enters Phase 2 of Reopening on June 22nd, we are no longer restricted to a maximum of 10 people at a time in our building. The new cap of 25% capacity is, unfortunately, not a challenge for us in our large sanctuary. Nonetheless, we are continuing to practice strict social distancing and other prophylactic measures - such as large distances between seats, wearing of masks, no kiddushes (for the time being), disinfection of surfaces, modified procedure for Torah service - and we are asking all of our service attendees to observe the same.

Aviv Hadash's Vice President David Rabin passed away on Friday, March 20. His graveside funeral took place on Monday, March 23, at Beth Moses Cemetery on Long Island. Here are some brief notes from the funeral. Ellen Rabin passed away a few days later, on Thursday, March 27. Because many people could not attend the funerals at this time of social distancing, Aviv Hadash will have a fitting tribute to Ellen and David - at the synagogue - once this coronavirus crisis has passed.
The adult education class usually meets on Thursday evenings at 8:00 pm, although we are currently NOT meeting due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.
